Special Surgery Hospital Meets the Needs of patients

Let’s face it folks our children are our lives. I have not once regretted giving life to my girls but there are times that parenting is not the easy job to do. Last October we were faced with Gracie having a serious virus that landed her in the hospital overnight. That in itself was scary, but imagine holding your baby ( I don’t care how old they are , they are still your babies) while they are in severe pain and there is nothing that you can do about it. We have been very blessed to have minor illnesses with our girls and for that we are thankful. But for a while there, we have concerns. I am just glad to know we have doctors who really care about our children. Maddie who is my athlete suffers from hyperflexibilty. Imagine if you can seeing a person lay down on their stomach on the floor and they pull their legs over the top their head while still on their stomach. Well if you imagine that then you imagine my Maddie. She has gone through many hours of physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around her joints so that they will not pop out-of-place. She has to wear braces when she plays sports because her knees have been known to pop out-of-place while she is running. Yep folks it is that bad. I know you are probably asking why don’t I make her quit sports? Well I have one question for you would you make your child quit something they love ? Believe me, it is not an easy thing to do.

We have our share of physical therapy appointments. So I think that I can really sympathize with those parents that their children have to undergo rehab. It is not an easy task so when I was asked to help get the word out about The Hospital for Special Surgery I jumped right on it. It is such a great joy to find a hospital that is a world leader in orthopedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation. Located in New York City, HSS recently opened the CA Technologies Rehabilitation Center at the Children’s Pavilion providing comprehensive, individualized rehabilitation for both inpatients and outpatients from birth to 21 years. Its multidisciplinary staff includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. Do you know that they have a Pavilion that is dedicated just for the needs of children? They have a new  CA Technologies Rehabilitation Center  that has just opened to help serve the needs of children and their parents. “I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Hospital for Special Surgery. A small donation to a charity of my choice was made in my name as a thank you for participating. You should consult with your physician or other health care provider before beginning any rehabilitation/therapy, sports training, or exercise program.”
