Reusing Yoga Mats

Another use for yoga mat

Back when Gracie started having seizures and we weren’t sure what was happening to keep our mind from straying too far from the dark side we began to undertake projects to keep our minds occupied. Sounds easy right, but doing it for little or no money being spent made it very challenging. One of the rooms that we redid was our laundry room.  When undertaking this makeover, I wanted to find a rug to put in front of my washer and dryer. But have you checked out the price of rugs? Can you say outrageous?? There was no way that we could have afforded to spend that money on a rug. So I racked my brain to see if I could come up with something that would be frugal as well as stylish. When browsing Pinterest one day I started to see how I could make my own. But when I was pricing the foam to make the rug it was still out of our price range. So then the thought came to me, why not use a Yoga Mat?  It is the right size to put in front of my washer and dryer, and I could personalize it any way that I wanted. Another plus was that I already had several yoga mats that I could choose from to use. So that was a huge score. I used our front door mat as a stencil pattern and spray painted through the front door mat with gray paint making a pattern on the yoga mat. I will have to say that I love my new rug in my laundry room, and it goes great with the new décor that I will how you later this week.

The total cost of this rug was absolutely nothing. Using found items from around my house save me a lot of money. So how have you saved money lately?

  1. That is such a great idea! I can see using those in the laundry room and in the entryway from our garage! Rugs ARE expensive and we use many of them to protect the floor so they get…yucky.

You asked how I reuse – I have become my mother 😉 I rinse out and clean all my pasta sauce, applesauce, etc jars and reuse them. Storage, crafts…I’ve even grabbed one to drink out of when I made a HUGE smoothie 😀 I swore I wouldn’t save jars like she does, but now I see why she does it LOL

  2. This is such a great idea. I have a yoga mat I could use as a mat in front of my kitchen sink but never thought of that before. Thanks for sharing #HomeMattersParty
