Have you ever been frighten to leave home? That you are so tied to a place that you cannot imagine living anywhere else. Well in the book, Annie Crow Knoll: Sunrise, the main character Annie feels just that way. Here is a brief summary of the book.

Annie-Crow-Knoll-Sunrise-187x300

Annie Crow Knoll-Sunrise is the story of a place where people come to restore their spirits, heal their pain and reclaim their lives.

Annie is a determined young woman who is left to run her family’s property after the death of her parents. Managing fourteen summer cottages with only the help of a family friend, she struggles to survive on her own. When she meets Drew, a young college professor, Annie thinks she’s finally found a love she can trust.

But years of conflict and pain destroy their bond and leave Annie alone again, unless she can find lasting peace and passion in the most unlikely arms.

In this family saga, love, loss and history twine together the people whose lives are changed by Annie’s determination and the magic of her knoll nestled along the head-waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

First, let me say I love the character of Annie. I love how Priest shows her growth from childhood to being forced into early adulthood with the death of her parents. I love how she becomes a part of where she grew up as if it an extension of her. What a wonderful feeling to have about where you live. I wish that I had that kind of attachment to a place but we have never lived anywhere where I felt this. But I think if we continue to live in house, I will connect to it before too long.

I also love how Annie is such a cool character. I mean really what other child would have a crow as a childhood pet. She is not a normal child by all means but that is what makes her so special. What I think is also amazing is how Priest shows that prejudice is wrong and that no matter the color of a  person’s skin they still need to be treated as a person not like some piece of trash that you would find on the side of the road.

I also love how Annie manages to maintain a friendship from childhood into adulthood. I wish that I had stayed close to all my childhood and with the great invention of Facebook I can reconnect but it is not the same.

If you are looking for a great book to read, I would highly recommend this book.
