Put The Seat Down: A Review

I just got through reading Put The Seat Down by Jess Maccallum. It toots itself as a guy’s guide to marriage in the first year.  I know what you all my women readers are thinking “here is another book to tell men they need to stand  up and take control. Be the Man.” Bu actually this book is totally different than that. Based on Biblical premises and ideas, Maccallum shows how a man should become a real partner with his wife. I found this book not only refreshing but also a good book for women to read as well. Not to tell your husbands what they should be doing but to show both sides of the story.

The topics covered in this book are the same topics that most “self help” books cover but he covers them in an unique way. The first chapter was shut up and get a job. Maccallum points out that if you can not afford to support you wife you have no business getting married in the first place. The other topics that he covers are when enough is enough where your friends are concerned, putting the toilet seats down, letting your wife make the decisions on home decorating, dealing with in laws and the big one S-E-X.

In each chapter, Maccallum uses Biblical and factual information to show how man is not always right but that sometimes you have to go with your gut. At the end of each chapter, there are suggestions to apply so that wives will think that their husbands are awesome.

This is an awesome resource for married couples. The fact that Jess Maccallum has been married for over 20 years (to the same woman) tells you that he knows what he is writing about.  Do yourself a favor and get this book for a newly engaged, newly married or someone who is married for a long time it is an eye opener. Interested is learning more about the author and his works go to Jess Maccallum to check it out.
