Put “Sweetness” in Your Words

Words can hurt. How many times have you struggled with a comment that someone has made to you? Do you let it glide off your back or does it linger with you? For me I am a lingerer. I always believe that people are going to see the worst in me rather than the best. That is why I can relate to the main character in the book, Sweetness by Lindsay Paige.

Here is a brief summary of the book:

Emily wished she was invisible. But after moving to a new town with her dad, a charming boy makes it impossible for her to disappear. Despite her feelings of unworthiness, Emily soon finds herself drawn to the safety of Jake’s world. Good looking and the star of the hockey team, Jake has a lot going for him. What most people don’t see is the difficult life he has at home. When quiet Emily steals his heart, Jake vows to help her discover she is worthy of love. Just when the two of them realize the sweetness of their relationship, they are put to the test. Only together can they overcome their haunted pasts to fight for a future together. But her past is getting the way of her being happy again. Can Emily learn to open up and be happy or will the past win again?

Now for my take on this book:

The only thing I did not like about the book was the ending. This book is a great young adult book that will make your teenager think about what they are saying and doing to each other. As well as for parents, this may make you rethink your parenting style or make you stop and think before you act or say something that you can not take back. This book was a quick read and I am glad that I got a chance to read it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for the sole purpose of this review. All opinions expressed are mine.
