Left at the Altar My Story of Hope and Healing for Every Woman Who Has Felt the Heartbreak of Rejection

Published by Thomas Nelson

I was given the chance to review an awesome book through booksneeze.com. The book was Left at the Altar by Kimberley Kennedy. I was so impressed with this book. The author addresses not only her own rejection, being told by her fiancee’ the day before their wedding was to take place that he just could not go through with it, but also the rejection other women have gone through.
She addresses how devastated she was that it happened to her- but she now knows that there was a reason for everything. Instead of waiting for a sign from God and to trust that He would send the right man for her, she settled because she wanted to be married.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is “Anytime there is stuff in your past, it is impossible for it not to shape your future.” The author realizes that she  had not dealt with the rejection she received from her father at a young age but being left at the altar forced her to deal with this issue.
Kennedy uses not only stories from present day but she also uses Biblical stories to show that rejection is not new. It has been around as long as people have existed and even before then.
I would definitely tell anyone that is dealing with rejection to read this book. In fact I am planning on recommending this book to a good friend of mine. Kennedy made  me realize that the first relationship that you need to be right with is your relationship with God. Kennedy realizes that yes it might have been painful going through this rejection- but she is in a better place because of this rejection. She has learned to forgive, has gone on to a new job- one in which she sees the positive everyday and is able to spotlight it. The most important relationship in her life is her relationship with God. If that relationship is right than everything else will fall into place.
