  1. Place a pizza stone inside the oven and preheat the oven to 500-degrees. As the oven preheats, keep the stone inside.
  2. Allow the dough to stand at room temperature before rolling it out. This is because it tends to shrink back when you start working on it if it’s still a bit frozen.
  3. Place garlic, oregano, basil, and 2 tablespoon olive oil in a mini food processor. Pulse about 3 times to form a smooth paste. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and pulse until completely smooth.
  4. Roll the pizza dough into a 14-inch circle on a smooth, floured surface, preferably a wooden board. Pierce the entire dough surface with a fork.
  5. Remove the pizza stone from the oven and carefully arrange the dough.
  6. Evenly spread about two and a half tablespoons basil mixture over the pizza dough.
  7. Top evenly with mozzarella cheese, ground pepper, and Heirloom tomatoes.
  8. Bake for about 12 minutes or until the crust is well browned and crisp.
  9. Evenly top with the remaining basil mixture and sprinkle some salt.
  10. Cut into 12 equal slices.
  11. Serve

Some Useful Tips:

Making a homemade pizza is very easy and hassle-free. But a small mistake can create a big mess- your pizza may not turn out well as it should be.

You can avoid creating a mess by following these tips:

  • Invest in a quality pizza baking stone– A good baking stone evenly distributes heat to the entire pizza and crisps up the bottom really nicely.
  • Always preheat your oven together with the baking stone- Before placing your pizza in the oven, preheat the oven first and place the baking stone to heat up as well. This will prevent it from sticking and help bake faster.
  • Stretch the dough gently.
  • Less is more with toppings- do not go overboard with the toppings a few quality and healthy ingredients will do just fine.

I absolutely love the versatility pizza provides- meaning that you can literally add any fresh ingredient you desire. With an organic pizza garden in your backyard, there is no reason why you shouldn’t try out this delicious recipe. It’s easy to make, delicious, and very healthy.
