It’s Time To Get Over Your Technophobia!
There are a lot of things that you can say about the modern world but one of the most significant things is undeniable that we now live in a world that is almost entirely dominated by technology. Technology powers the way we shop, the way we work, the way our kids learn, and how most of us end up keeping in contact with one another. This means that if you’re someone who’s not really that interested in, or knowledgeable about, technology, it can often feel pretty intimidating. However, that’s not the way that things have to be. With that in mind, here are just a few things that you can do to finally get over your technophobia.
Do some research
One of the best things that you can do if you’re nervous about technology and how to use it is to go to the last place you would think to start: the tech itself! The reality is that thanks to sites like Google, any questions that you might have about computers almost certainly have shockingly simple answers that are easy to find. Whether you want to know how to update your computer, how to force quit Mac, how to download things, or just how to access your email, there will almost certainly be guides out there on how to do it. It’s just a matter of getting online and asking the right questions.
Get some advice
If you’ve got kids then one of the best things that you can do is to go to them. The younger generation has essentially grown up online which means that, for many of them, it’s more like a second language than anything else. Now, whether you think that’s necessarily a good thing or not, it does mean that they’re in a great position to clear up any confusion that you might be having. And if you don’t want to ask your kids then why not ask some of your more tech-savvy friends?
Dive in!
Here’s the truth of technology: the vast majority of it simply isn’t going to do you any harm. You’ve likely heard tech horror stories but the truth is that most of them are massively overblown and, even if they’re not, they’re incredibly rare instances. Most people use technology every single day without any problems. Technology has been such a wonderful force in so many lives that the best thing you can do is just to dive in and experience it for yourself!
Of course, none of this means that you suddenly have to become completely obsessed with technology or that you have to embrace it wholeheartedly. After all, it’s your life and that means it’s yours to live how you want. However, by following these tips you can at least reach a point where dealing with technology is no longer a point of stress for you. That way, you can get on with living your life however you want without it hanging over your head.
Great article! Overall, technology can really help and enhance your everyday life. However, I do get why tech would be scary with threats like hackers and identity thieves online. As you said, it’s important to get advice from others and do some research to get over your fear of technology.
