How to Boost Your Energy (Without Caffeine)

How to Boost Your Energy (Without Caffeine) from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

It is normal to feel tired here and there, and coffee is the easiest way to “cure” tiredness that comes to mind. At least it instantly energizes you, which does solve the problem in the short term.

Well, drinking coffee is not the healthiest way to boost your energy, or make it last – even if your fatigue is not chronic.

If you do find yourself struggling to get out of bed on the regular, however, then you should surely consider changing something about your lifestyle.

Well, you’re in luck. Below are four tips that will make you feel awake without having to drink a sip of coffee.

#1: Supplement Your Diet

The majority of people know that nutrition directly affects our energy levels. What you eat matters, but maintaining a healthy routine often requires a level of energy that you probably already lack.

This is where supplements come in!

Supplements like Nature Happiness include important vitamins, nutrients, and/or herbs that already exist in foods you find on the market. The gimmick here is that you have to dedicate some time to cooking if you want to consume these important ingredients.

Supplements are a life-saver because they provide you with the nutrients you find in healthy foods without having to cook anything.

So you save time and energy while getting the same benefit as a healthy home-cooked meal. And even on the off-chance that healthy, home-cooked meals are your hobby, you can still supplement your diet to get that extra boost.

There are three types of energy supplements:

  • Vitamins and herbs
  • Natural nootropic stacks
  • Synthetic energy stimulants

Although synthetic energy stimulants are available by prescription, there is limited knowledge of how safe these drugs actually are.

For this reason, opt for as many natural supplements as possible, such as natural nootropic stacks (natural, combined supplements) and vitamins. Nootropics are designed to enhance your brain function and allow you to feel sharper day to day. Other supplements may be aimed at more general improvements or ailments, but opting for natural supplements will ensure that you’re not putting anything in your body that could be to your detriment, regardless of what you’re taking it for. Also, don’t underestimate how important it is to take the right herbs to boost your energy levels.  Ginseng, for example, can be just as energy-inducing as coffee – if not more.

#2: Get More Exercise

It may sound counterintuitive, but if you find yourself feeling run-down, doing a jumping jack or two might actually boost your energy levels.

What exercise does is naturally increase the level of energy-inducing neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, in your system.

A study has even confirmed that exercise is more effective in treating patients with narcolepsy than modafinil, a narcolepsy drug.

Bottom line? As difficult as it may be to go out for a jog, you will definitely come home feeling more energized.

#3: Drink More Water

This tip sounds like a no-brainer – after all, it’s universal knowledge that water is the second thing our bodies need to survive after oxygen.

And yet, the ‘evils’ of dehydration are widely overlooked. Subsequently, not everyone knows that dehydration is not just linked to more obvious physiological issues such as constipation and a decrease in urination but also fatigue, headaches, and impaired cognitive performance.

While supplements can fill in for some nutrients, coffee cannot substitute for water. Even without added sugar, coffee acts as a diluter and actually drains the body of the liquids it needs to function. The solution? Drink more water.

#4: Reduce Stress and Rest

If you’re feeling overworked, chances are you need to pick your battles. Taking on too much work is not just draining – it’s straight-on unproductive.

Limiting the number of responsibilities you take on won’t just help you to carry them out but also make some downtime for yourself, even if it means doing nothing.

And if you think doing nothing is a waste of time unrelated to boosting your energy levels, think again. The perk of doing nothing is that your body and brain get time to recharge and – surprise – get energized.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are many alternatives to coffee out there – and all of them are natural.

Use natural supplements, exercise, drink water and rest. You may not see the magic in these solutions at first, but the speed and routine of everyday life can make you forget the basics. You will notice the results in your energy levels once you follow the tips.
