Here Comes The Boom: 2 Thumbs Up Review

In the comedy Here Comes the Boom, former collegiate wrestler Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a 42-year-old apathetic biology teacher in a failing high school. When cutbacks threaten to cancel the music program and lay off its teacher (Henry Winkler,) Scott begins to raise money by moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter. Everyone thinks Scott is crazy – most of all the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek) – but in his quest, Scott gains something he never expected as he becomes a sensation that rallies the entire school.

I was able to attend the prescreening of this movie last Thursday and I will have to say that it was the most inspiring movie I have seen in a long time. I found myself laughing, crying and cheering during the movie. The fact that Scott Voss was willing to go above and beyond what was needed to help someone else was amazing.

This movie is for anyone that has lost hope or their inspiration and who are searching to find it again. Voss in this movie was a teacher who just showed up for work to get a paycheck basically the kids taught themselves. When he finds out that a fellow teacher will lose his job, just when he finds out a life changing event will be occurring, Voss decides to take action.

I invited to of my fellow teachers who also are some of my best friends to preview this movie with me. They loved it. In fact one of the teachers said that they were going to recommend this movie to her brother because of the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) in it. I loved it because first I love Kevin James. I loved his comedic timing since he starred in the King of Queens and seeing him in his element made this a wonderful movie. But also because this story is one of hope. Just when you have given up on life, life has other plans for you .

If you are looking for an uplifting, inspiring and funny movie this is one to watch.  It is playing at a theater near you. You can find out more about Here Comes The Boom by checking out the official website.

Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets to attend this movie. No other monetary compensation was received. All opinions are 100% mine.
