Frankenweenie is a must see.

About a week ago, Gracie, Raul and I were able to attend a prescreening of the new movie, Frankenweenie. This movie was awesome. Gracie loved it but I never had any doubt to begin with. Any story dealing with the love of a dog and his/her human would be right up Gracie’s alley. There were parts in the movie that were a little scary for Gracie. Luckily she sat between Raul and I as was able to hold our hands when she got scared. This movie, I think, is for the 8 and up age group because it is a little dark and some of the characters are down right creepy looking. I felt a little creeped out myself. But every Tim Burton movie is like that.

I loved how the story behind Frankenweenie is built on a classic by Mary Shelley. In fact, seeing this movie sparked a conversation between Gracie and myself about the book.

Like I said before this was a cute movie for those 8 and up. When we were watching the movie some of the other movie goers had younger children with them who got a little scared during the movie. Now you also need to remember that each child is different so what might scare one child may not scare another one. As a parent, I would advise you to watch the trailers of the movie and then you make the decision if it is the right movie for your child to watch.

I personally loved it and my husband who does not like movies at all even enjoyed it. Gracie, well I know she was going to like it no matter what. So yes she did enjoy the movie very much but she enjoyed her time alone with mommy and daddy even better. Both Gracie and Beary give this movie a thumbs up. Frankenweenie is now showing at a theater near you .

Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets to Frankenweenie to facilitate this review. No other monetary compensation was received. The opinions expressed are 100% mine.

  1. I am not normally a kids movie in the theaters kind of mom, but I really want to see this one. Still trying to convince hubby. I am going to get him to read this post. Wish me luck!

  2. Glad your children liked it.
My son is too young to see it now, but maybe in a year or two.

  3. I like Tim Burton a fair bit not sure my kids would love it though. I think one would totally get it and the other might be scared. Great honest review and my youngest is 8 so I would have to decide if she could handle it or not. To me, this is almost too smart and edgy for kids. It’s a fun sounding movie though.
