Best Ways to Maintain Your Vehicle
Cars aren’t really my thing, but over the years, I have learned a few things here and there that has helped me keep my car in the best possible condition. So, even if y’all are like me and are not car-oriented or focused, that is okay—here are a few of the best ways to maintain your vehicle.
Keep an Eye on Your Tires
Your tires play a bigger role than y’all even realize. If you don’t take care of them, it can cause severe problems such as a flat tire or even a blowout. To avoid having these problems, make sure that y’all are rotating your tires when necessary and that you are staying up-to-date on any and all recalls that could be placed on the tires.
Oh, and one last thing…y’all want good gas mileage? Maintaining tire pressure is key. Bottom of Form
Service Commonly Overlooked Parts
Make sure to pay attention to all parts of your car, no matter the size, how often it’s used, or its function. By paying attention to all of the vehicle’s elements, you are not only able to keep the car in better condition overall, but you might even be able to get more time and service out of the parts. An example of this? Make sure you are changing those windshield wipers to ensure that they can properly clean your windshield. Change and check your oil to preserve and expand the life of the turbocharger. You can even change the cabin air filter in the car to enhance the overall air filtration throughout the vehicle.
My point? Keep an eye on it all—it’ll pay off in the end.
Check Any and All of the Fluids
This one might seem a little tricky because there are a few different fluids to check throughout the car. But I promise it really isn’t that bad. In addition to making sure everything is good with the oil, you should keep an eye on the coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and transmission fluid. Always double-check and make sure that the appropriate levels are hit for each one.
Always be on the lookout for a leak! Oh, and make sure you note what color the fluid is. Catching this right will not only keep y’all safer, but it will hopefully mean faster turnaround time for your car in the shop.
Get Routine Check-ups
Just like you would yourself, make sure you get your car in for routine check-ups. This allows you to be able to have a solid understanding of the condition of your car. Why would you need that? A car needs ongoing maintenance, and being able to identify what possible maintenance might be needed in the foreseeable future will keep y’all safe and on the lookout. It might also allow for some time to save up and cover the cost!
By making note of the best ways to maintain your vehicle, you too will be able to keep your car like mine—in tip-top shape!
Where You Park, It Counts!
Maintaining your car is not easy, especially if you haul your kids, pets, and groceries multiple times a day. Nonetheless, it is also important to be mindful of where you park your vehicle. When you are out and about, pick a shaded spot away from objects that might fall on it, or if you can’t find a shaded spot, use one of these cool car covers. This strategy will help you protect both the outside and inside of your vehicle.
However, you should also be mindful about where your vehicle is parked most of the time: your driveway! And that means you should make sure that the paint doesn’t get faded by the sun. As such, if you don’t yet have a shaded spot to park in, consider investing in one of these cantilever carports that not only provides maximum protection for your vehicle but also offers a visually appealing extension to your property.
Make sure your driveway is safe and clean at all times, making sure that it is fitted with a clean driveway channel drainage and that there are no sharp objects or glass on the floor.
