I have always dreamed of those having one of those magazine-worthy showplaces. You know what I am talking about a place where you don’t have to move things around to stage a picture. Well, I am here to tell you if you dream it than you can make it a reality. I got this when I bought my Blog Cabin.

I get so excited thinking how I am going to decorate for the season. Christmas was so fun to decorate but Valentine’s Day I wanted something a little more classic and subtle. Mainly I wanted somthing sophiscated.

And I think I got that with the X and O I made for the bookshelf behind my desk. But keep reading and I will share a little secret with you. So I went searching at my two favorite stores in my town Michaels and Joann, no Hobby Lobby here yet, but soon.

I found myself thinking about what I wanted my letters to look like. So after I shopped at both stores, I decided Michaels had the better selection. I was orginally going to do wood letters but the problem was that the wood letters would need to have another piece attached to it to make them stand up which would have been a little bit more money. But I really did like the wood letters so I thought okay I will pay more.

So I grabbed the letters and the additional pieces I needed and put them in the shopping cart. Then I headed to the clearance aisle, no matter what I am looking for, I always head to the clearance aisle of these stores, I have found some awesome things there.

This time was no different. My eyes spied down on the bottom shelf, canvas letters that were bigger ( the exact size I was looking for to begin with) than the wooden ones and better yet I wouldn’t have to buy anything additional to make them stand up, they did that on their own. And the price was right the same amount that I would have paid for the smaller wood letters and additional pieces or so I thought. But one problem they had a X but no O.

Because I can always see things in a different way, I was wondering what could I make the O out of, then my eyes spied the Q. Yep I totally thought I could make that Q work and I did. So I put the wooden letters back and grab up my X and Q, and made my way to the register.

Now here is where the shock came, the price for the letters were marked $4.97 a piece, but when I got up to the register they rang up $1.97 a piece. Major score for me. See it pays to check the clearance aisle.

If you look in the lower corner near the angel that is a secret project I am working on. More to come soon.

I came home and let my fingers to the walking on Amazon because the two stores I went to didn’t have the flowers I wanted for my X and O. Peonies are my favorite flower so I need when I saw these here, I had to get them. Plus they came with a lot of greenery and hydrangea that I could use as fillers. So I quickly ordered them

Once they came in, I just simply hot glued my way to this gorgeous floral creation that now sits on my bookshelf. Yet again another way I have put Create, my word of the year to work.

I realized when I sat down to write this post that the blind cords was on the O but I thought it’s not perfect and that is okay. Being Authentic is better.

So tell me did you create something for Valentine’s Day?
