5 Ways to Repair the Air Conditioner Yourself
Nowadays people call the technicians at the drop of a hat. If there is any problem in the functioning of any electrical appliance or machine, then instead of even checking whether the problem can be fixed by you, you call on the technician. The technician makes a few changes and charges you a hefty amount. This only causes you to spend money unnecessary. Here are five easy ways you can repair your own air-conditioner without calling on the technician-
- Change The Filter
Majority of the air-conditioning problem occurs because of the filter. You don’t replace the filter often and this causes the condenser fins to blow the air on the inside and freeze. This usually happens when the air-conditioner fails to cool the room. The technician will come and change this, and end up replacing the filter, when you can do it on your own.
- Clean The Condenser Fins
The air-conditioner may not cool the room if the condenser fin gets trapped in the dirt collected from the air. There is a special brush that is provided with the air-conditioner, when you notice the problem, open the casing and check what is wrong. If you see that the condenser fins are dirty, simply clean it with the brush. You will see that the air-conditioner will start functioning smoothly.
- Some Problems In The Wires
There may be some problem where the cooling doesn’t take place because of the thermostat being turned down very low. If this happens, check the condenser fan. Check carefully to see if the wires are all properly attached and note if any of the wires are burnt.
- Malfunctioning Of The Outside Condenser Fan
The air-conditioner may malfunction because of the condenser fan being burnt-out. If the inside condenser works properly, the outside condenser will heat up and shut down automatically because it will need to cool down. When the condenser heats up, it melts the seals around it and this can cause additional problems. You will then have to open the air-conditioning cover, open the fan, mark the wires properly and re-attach them to a new fan.
- Change The Contractor
If your air-conditioner is making a loud noise, it is probably time to change the contractor. This is another easy task to do. The contractor is located behind the machine and you can easily locate it thanks to the noise it makes. Disconnect the power supply, open the wires, mark them carefully and then get a new contractor and place it in the same place and re-attach the wires.
These are some of the common problems seen in air-conditioners for which you call the electrician or the technician. Now you know how easily you can fix these problems. There are other major problems for which you will need technical expertise, in that case it is better to call on services like Hillsborough Aireserv. They will give you around the clock technical assistance at a reasonable rate.
