How To Redo Your Son’s Room

boyIt is always fun to redo your child’s room, whether it is your daughter or your son but redoing your son’s room needs a little creativity. Boys don’t like frills and flowers. So, you have to take some design risks and get creative. Get beyond the flowers, nature and frills. Here are the some ways to redo your son’s room –

1.         Find A Good Theme – Choose a good theme and find inspiration to create a boy’s room. The design should not seem as if parts have been thrown together haphazardly. Everything should come together cohesively. But, this is possible only when you find a fun theme that will get your working.

a)         Soccer Theme – Take a look at your child’s current likes and choose the theme. For example, if your son is a soccer fan, then choose soccer elements and use them to decorate the room. Choose the furniture accordingly. Instead of a standard dresser, you can buy a dresser shaped like a soccer ball.

The wallpaper should also depict the soccer theme. It can include your child’s favorite soccer players, their jersey numbers and others. If you feel that the wallpaper is expensive or if you cannot find a suitable wallpaper, then stencil the portraits yourself.

Since the theme is soccer, it necessary to include footlocker. Place it at the bed’s end and completely cover it with team stickers.

You need to get into the soccer theme completely to give it the look that you want.

b)        Car Theme – You can also look into the car theme, if your child is interested in car racing or cars. Or, maybe, he is just interested in the mechanics of a car. For this theme, the furniture should be diamond-plated. Hang grouped hubcaps on the wall above the child’s bed. It is the best place to hang them. You can also get some gears and other similar things.

2)         Wall Treatment – When you are redoing your son’s room, you also need to look at the walls and decorate them according to the chosen theme. This can be an expensive project. So, look into inexpensive alternatives, some of which are given below –

a)         Tinker Toy Treatment – Depending upon the boy’s age, you can choose the tinker toy treatment for the wall in his room. For this you will need a simple rail installed at a height of 36 inches from the floor. Instead of shelves, attach pegboards. Your boy can use the pegboard holes to play with his Tinker toys.

b)         Chalkboard Wall Paint – Change the wall into chalkboard by using the chalkboard wall paint. You can turn the entire room into a chalkboard or just reserve just one wall for it. Don’t forget to frame the wall to make it look realistic.

c)         Flag Wall Paint – If the room has a car theme, you can create a checkered flag on the wall. Use a black-white combination.

These are some of the ideas that you can use. Other ideas include surfing or swim themes. Make sure that you use good coatings like Central Florida’s Superior Coatings for a long lasting wall color coating.
