4 Projects That Make Your Home More Inviting

4 Projects That Make Your Home More Inviting from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

If you, like many people, have been spending a little more time at home lately, you might be getting tired of looking at the same old space. Luckily, the right changes and a few updates can make your home and yard a more inviting and welcoming place.

1. Update Your Landscaping

There are so many reasons to spend time outside. It is linked to better moods, lower rates of disease, and a stronger immune system. Look for creative ways to encourage outdoor entertaining and living. Suggestions to get you started include:

  • Plant a garden
  • Install a patio or deck
  • Build an arbor
  • Add a water feature
  • Hang a hammock or swing

Don’t just look at entertaining areas, either. Look at tree services to come in and trim back any branches that are crowding around the house itself. While trees offer a nice amount of shade and can help keep summer cooling costs down, limbs that hang over your roof may pose a danger in storms and can serve as a bridge to grant wildlife access to your attic.

2. Focus on Your Entry

First impressions can last for a long time. If you want people to feel welcome approaching your house, try dressing up the entryway a bit. You might be surprised at how a few simple changes can have a major impact here. Paint the front door a bright and cheery color that compliments your home’s design and style. Add a few potted flowers or a bench outside the door for texture and depth.

3. Add a Splash of Color

You don’t have to stop dressing things up at the door.  Paint is a relatively quick and inexpensive way to change up the inside of your house. Before you rush out and buy several gallons of a new and exciting color, however, it can pay to try a sample area or two in each room. This will let you see how the color will look once it is applied, which can be hard to envision when you are looking at a tiny sample card.

4. Highlight Its Best Features

Lighting can really set the mood ina nad around a home. Add a few carefully placed lights around the landscape to increase safety and highlight special areas. Then turn your attention inside the house. Replace outdated fixtures and add accent lighting to brighten up each room.

There are plenty of projects that will make you actually want to stay at home. Choose to work on areas that you spend the most time in first so you can enjoy the benefits of your efforts sooner rather than later.
