Yummy Halloween Treat Ideas
Y’all I can’t believe how quickly it will be October. It just seemed that I blinked and the summer was gone. I guess working on the farm made my summer go by quickly. Now it is all about fall. I have been shopping like crazy for cute fall outfits as well making yummy Halloween treat ideas. And today I have one for you: a Bat Twinkie.
Before I start with the recipe I just have to share that I actually went into mourning when they took Twinkies off the shelf a while back. Although I don’t eat them all the time, I still enjoyed an occasional one and they are yummy Halloween Treat Ideas for your kids.
Yummy Halloween Treat Ideas – Bat Twinkies
Ingredients:
- 1 box of chocolate twinkies
- 1 bag of Ghirardelli melting milk chocolate
- 1 cookie sheet fitted with wax paper
- 1 package of small edible eyes
- 1 disposable piping bag
Directions
- Unwrap the twinkies and place onto the cookie sheet
- Place into the freezer for 10 minutes
- Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate and stir until smooth
- Dip the frozen twinkie into the melted milk chocolate and fully coat
- Once all have been fully coated with the chocolate set aside
- Place two edible eyes onto the top part of the twinkie for the eyes
- Scoop the rest of the melted chocolate into the piping bag and cut a small part of the tip
- On a bare part of the cookie sheet, pipe out 8 ‘wings’ for the bats
- Place cookie sheet into the fridge for 20 minutes so that chocolate can harden
- Once the 20 minutes is up, lightly peel off the wings and insert them into the sides, creating your bat!
After I finished making these I looked at them and realized they kind of look like reindeer so for Christmas time I think I make the same recipe but add a cinnamon red hot for the nose and instant Rudolph. If you think these Halloween treat ideas are awesome you need to check this out.
