Visit Virginia: It’s Fantastic for Your Well-being
Many Americans enjoy a nightcap to wind down at the end of the day, a beer by the lake, or a margarita with their mexican dinner. Unfortunately, it’s widely known that alcohol is not exactly good for the body. If you do enjoy an alcoholic beverage from time to time, you’re not alone. In fact, 25% of Americans are considered heavy drinkers. Don’t worry, I’m not here to tell you to stop drinking. As it turns out, there is one thing you can drink that could lead to improvements in your health: wine.
Red wine has been proven to lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of blood clots, and boost your immune system. All of these health benefits should be cause enough to enjoy a glass of Pinot Noir with dinner tonight. Why stop there, though? Your health and well-being are truly important. After a lingering, stressful winter full of cold weather and long days at the office it’s time to treat yourself to a getaway this summer. Planning a weekend tour of some fabulous vineyards sounds like it should do the trick. Combine the emotional and mental benefits of a relaxing retreat with the physical benefits of drinking red wine and you can practically write it off as medical leave.
If you were thinking of heading to Napa Valley, think again. Virginia is known as one of the top 5 wine producing regions in the country and a trip to NOVA might be a little easier on your bank account than one to touristy California. This map of the top ten winning wineries in Virginia should help you get a start on planning your getaway.
I’ve given you the perfect excuse to gather your friends or family, take some time off of work, and enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine. All you have to do now is figure out how to get there.
