Buying a good vacuum cleaner these days is a tricky business.  There are hundreds on the market and every manufacturer touts their machines as the best.  The sad truth is that many machines just don’t measure up, especially the cheaper models.  As a result, finding an affordable yet capable vacuum can be a real chore, but they are out there.

 

Following is a list of the best vacuum cleaners for under $100.  The machines on the list have been chosen based on a combination of owner ratings, features and cost.  These vacuums provide the best bang for your buck.

Costs for these machines vary depending on the retail outlet and one should search for the best pricing.  Consider online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and Target, although there are many others.

 

The Hoover U5140900 Tempo Widepath is a bagged upright that is powered by a 12 amp motor.  Owners report that it has powerful suction and that it is also maneuverable.  This unit is good for people with asthma or allergies as it comes with HEPA filtration which helps to remove allergens from the air.  The U5140900 also has a wide 15 inch cleaning path and consumers give it good ratings.  Things to watch out for include a short power cord and the fact that it tends to be noisy.  It carries a 1-year warranty.

 

The other upright in the list is the Dirt Devil Dynamite Plus.  This bagless upright is especially inexpensive and can even be found for just over $50 online.  It only uses a 7 amp motor but owners still report strong suction.  This is a fairly small vacuum and it weighs a lightweight 8.8lbs.  Like the Hoover Tempo Widepath the Dynamite Plus has HEPA filtration and carries a 1-year warranty.  This vacuum is a little small however and probably isn’t the best fit for cleaning large areas.
