Hal Thompson is a pretty ordinary guy. A widower who owns his own small travel agency, he’s doing his best to raise his two nearly adult children alone. When they convince him to undergo a hypnotic past-life regression, he is unimpressed that his “memories” reveal the hiding place of ancient Aztec gold. Other people, however, take it very seriously, and when his family is threatened, Hal is forced into a wild chase across Mexico and into the blood-soaked memories of his past life as a soldier in Hernan Cortes’ sixteenth century army. Can he find the gold before it claims more lives, or will he lose the love of his life … again?

I will have to admit that I had a little trouble with this book. I would start it and then quickly lose interest. I am not sure whether it was having a lot on my mind but I was bound and determined to give the book the chance that it deserved. It did start off slow but folks let me tell you I am so happy that decided to give it a second chance because it got better as the book went on. Imagine finding the love of your past live in your current life. That was so cool. I also could identify with the country it took place in as that my husband is a native of Mexico. Granted he is not from Mexico City but the author did a wonderful job of capturing the picturesque scenery of Mexico. Also she did an amazing job capturing the potential danger in traveling to a foreign country. We always have to be very alert when we travel to visit family and my husband is a native.

So if you are looking for a book that is rich in history, intrigue, mystery and suspense than this is the book for you.
