Ready for the Super Bowl with This Pigskin BLT Kickin' Dip

Can you believe it the Carolina Panthers football team are in the Super Bowl!!!! I am so excited. I thought for sure that the last game would have been closer than what it was but what can I say those Cats know how to win a game. Now they are in the Super Bowl I am proud to announce that I am in a bowl game myself so to speak.

Remember a few weeks ago I posted the Keep Pounding Carolina Panthers BBQ Chicken Dip, well guess what I am back with another one. Zyliss, the amazing company that sent me the Easy Pull Manual Food Processor, asked if I wanted to participate in a dip off with another blogger. I said sure. So here I am a blogger from North Carolina in competition with a blogger from Colorado. Yep Panthers vs. Broncos in a dip off bowl game.

The instructions for this one dip off were very simple. We had to use bacon in our recipe. That was a no-brainer for me, as bacon is one of my favorite foods. So I came up with this Pigskin BLT Kickin’ Dip.  It is quite easy to make, and it is a great way to sneak some vegetables into your super bowl party fare.

Here is what you will need to create this yummy dip.

  • 1 package of bacon
  • 2 (8 oz) blocks of cream cheese
  • 2/3 cup of sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • diced tomatoes
  • shredded lettuce

Once you have all the ingredients, here are what you need to do to make this yummy dip.

  • Cook the bacon. You can either fry it or do like I did and baked it in the oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
  • After the bacon is done, set the oven to 350.
  • Coat a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.

  • In a bowl combine the cream cheese, sour cream, the cheeses, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and about 1/4 cup of the crumbled bacon together.  You can use a mixer, a spoon, or be like me and use your hands :).

  • Once done take the dish from the oven and sprinkle with the shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and the rest of the bacon.  Shredding the lettuce, dicing the tomatoes and making the bacon crumble was made easier using my Zyliss Easy Pull Manual Food Processor. You can also add cheese like I did to the top.
