National Pawn Changing Stereotypes and Making Dreams Come True

I was given a gift card to National Pawn for the sole purpose of checking out their store. However, that gift card did not cover the cost of making my dream come true.

Pawn shops!!! The images that used to come to my mind were mainly from television and movies. And since I am a big fan of Chicago PD ( Hello that is my new favorite show.) Most of the images I have are of shady people who take the items they stole to fence them. I know right? Not a good sign, well let me tell you Pawn shops are nothing like that. At least not the one that I recently visited in Raleigh.

National Pawn, located in Raleigh, changed that image in my mind forever. One Saturday my husband and I visited them and as soon as I walked through the doors, I knew that this was so unlike anything I had seen on television. First, let me say that the decor and colors of the store made it seem like you were walking into a high-class department store. Next, the staff immediately greeted us. I wasn’t expecting to see them in ties and business attire. I was thinking jeans and t-shirts. I know that is just another image I got off of television. I also love how the staff there was so friendly.

I was able to meet the manager, Stephen, who told me a little bit about the company. First, let me say that I love that National Pawn is a North Carolina company. I love my home state. Second, I love that is a family owned and thirdly, I love that they give back the community, donating the musical instruments that the store takes in to local schools. And a former music teacher, I can’t begin to tell you how much that means to me.  I also love how you are made to feel special at the store. I think I was able to interact with all the employees when I was there. I know what you are thinking, sure because they knew you were doing a story. But it wasn’t just me they were like that with every customer in the store.

Stephen is the manager but Renee was the one who helped me. I learned when I was chatting with her that she was new to her job but you never could have known it by talking with her. She was very helpful answering all the questions I had for her.

If you notice in that Instagram post, I wrote about how one of my dreams came true with my new purchase. Y’all I can’t begin to tell you how long I have had this dream. I was just mentioning to someone how much I really wanted a Mac. Let’s just say I got the deal of a lifetime Y’all. I found a Mac Desktop computer for way way way-way ( did I mention way ) less than what they sell for in the stores.

I will admit I almost didn’t get it because they also had a Roomba vacuum that I so wanted as well. And I will admit that I struggled with my decision going back and forth with everything. I think I walked around the store for at least 30 minutes if not more before I pulled the trigger and bought the Mac for way way less than what they sell for at the store.

So not only did National Pawn change my mind about what a pawn shop was but they also made it possible for me to achieve my dream of owning a Mac. I can’t wait to go back to see what other deals I can score.
