My Biggest Dream

I have lots of dreams some are way out there some not so much but probably one of my biggest dreams is one that we all look at each other and instead of seeing skin color as a value and amount of what a person is worth, that people instead get past that color and look to what the person stands for and then decided whether they are a person you want to be friends with.

I am very lucky in that my girls do not see color. That shows with the mix up their friends as well as their boyfriends.  I will have to say that when I was growing up seeing interracial couples was a very unique site but now it is very common.

Raul and I have always taught our girl that it does not matter what people look like what matters is how they treat them. We have told them that we don’t care what the boy they want to date looks like a long as they are good to them. Isn’t that all we should need.

Being 1/2 of an interracial couple (Mexican/ American) I have seen the looks that my husband and I still get when we walk into a store together. And they were not nice looks.  There are so many people who think that when a Hispanic marries an American it is just so they can become citizens. And in some cases that is true but they never consider that it might have been a love connection like ours was. 19 years later Raul is a resident alien but has yet to be a citizen so I guess some people were wrong.

So my biggest dream would be that the world would be color blind. So what is your biggest dream?
