Midweek Moment: With Love, Mrs. Cranky Pants

Beverly has out done herself this week with this blog. Who knew that a plunger could make you call out for God.

miss cranky pantsHelp me out! Is it just me or has ANYBODY EVER had MY kind of day?

Well let’s see… I burned the toast, there are no matching clean socks, it’s thirty minutes before school starts and my teenaged son waits till now to tell me it is school picture day? All the while the laundry has been separated into two piles… Dirty/FUNKY! Dirty means we can possibly get by with wearing it one more time and funky means you better run when you are loading it into the washing machine!

So this morning, I am rushing around frantically, running late of course and I go to use the restroom and my nine year old comes out smiling. (YEP trouble) Guess what? I am bestowed the great motherly honor of plunging the toilet for nearly 15 minutes. I never knew those things could spit back so much water! As we head out the door for school, my little girl has the nerve to ask, “Mom what’s with the cranky attitude?”

As if that wasn’t enough I go to use the restroom tonight and the fourteen year old walks out. (YEP you guessed it). Yet again, I found myself plunging for another 20 minutes. Don’t ask me how but the plunger broke,(Before you even ask, yes I have already tried duct tape) water flooded the floor, my hair is wet, my bangs are ruined, and during this entire fiasco I managed to plunge and step on the scales at the same time to which it showed a five pound weight gain!!

I can’t eat chocolate, I am on day two with no sugar or carbs and my hubby walks through the door, (might I add you can guess how elegant I look ) & he… well he just smiles. As I am holding the plunger (of course while wearing the water soaked pajamas) he says, “SOoooo, How was your day!” You can’t help but laugh!

Later on, I just had to take a few minutes and pull away and retreat into my bedroom for a few minutes of sanity and for time alone with GOD. Just being candid, I found myself lying in the middle of that Queen sized bed, curled up and crying out to God. I needed that time by myself to be empowered and refreshed by reading the word, and sharing with the Lord my requests, my dreams and even my fears! You see we cannot possibly be the best spouse, mother and friend to others if we don’t take time for ourselves, to renew our minds, and have that quiet time alone with GOD! In Mark 1:35 we see that even Jesus withdrew often, by himself to spend much needed time alone with Father God.

Girlfriends there are days that we will find ourselves in some unscheduled messes! Some of you are facing some very difficult situations even right now. Maybe it is with your marriage, a child, your job, your finances or even your health. GOD loves us and he sees the tears, the disappointments & even our biggest MESSES! He desires that intimate alone time and fellowship with you. Find that special time to break away for even a few minutes to get alone with the Father to examine your heart, straighten out the priorities for the day, seek GOD’s wisdom and lay out your requests before GOD!

 With Love, Mrs. Cranky Pants!

How lovely is your dwelling place,Lord Almighty!My soul yearns, even faints,for the courts of the Lord;my heart and my flesh cry outfor the living God.Even the sparrow has found a home,and the swallow a nest for herself,where she may have her young—a place near your altar,Lord Almighty, my King and my God.Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you. Psalm 84:1-4
