There are about nine million family-owned RVs in the United States. As the summer rolls in, thousands of families will take to the roads to experience the joy of motorhome adventures and road trips. Motorhome holidays are increasingly becoming popular, even with millennials.

Are you thinking of joining these road adventures?

The first thing you need to do is find the right RV. There are hundreds of models, building types, sizes, and shapes to choose from. How do you pick out the best RV?

This article will guide you on how to select the best motorhome to suit your holiday style.

Types of RVs

RVs are generally classified into four broad categories. The classification is mostly dependent on size.

Class A RVs

Class A RVs are the largest and most luxurious motorhomes. Class As are basically homes on wheels. They are built on modern buses, some measuring well over 40 feet.

These RVs come with all the amenities of a modern home, including king-sized beds, washers, plenty of storage room, a large living interior, and even a mobile garage for a small sports car.

This type of RV is mostly aimed at travelers who spend a lot of time on the road. Some people actually spend their full time in these vehicles. However, they are expensive and a bit difficult to drive and maneuver.

Class B RVs

Class Bs are popularly known as camper vans. They are built on standard van models such as Ford Transits and Mercedes Sprinters, with the largest measuring about 20 feet in length, like these RVs you can rent from Gilbuc Adventures.

Compared to Class A, the campervans are smaller, basic, and less spacious. However, they have creative designs and features that let you exploit every inch of the space available. They are excellent for couples, individuals, and small families.

They are also easier to drive, cost less than Class A, and are much more versatile.

Class C RVs

Class C sits in the middle between Classes A and B. They are not as big as Class A, but not as small as Class B either. They are the most common RVs on the road. Most are built on long wheelbase trucks or van chassis measuring between 20 and 30 feet in length.

These RVs provide adequate space and facilities for average families. You will have a functional bathroom, kitchen, adequate living space, and a sleeping area.

Towable RVs

Towable RVs offer many conveniences over conventional motorhomes, chief among which is that you can detach it from your vehicle and drive away. They are inexpensive and come in various sizes and types, including travel trailers, 5th-wheel trailers, and folding tent trailers.

Choosing the Best RV

There is a wide variety of options when it comes to choosing the best RV. It all comes down to how much you want to spend, how many people you’re taking onboard, amenities and features, and the location of your holiday destination. Consider all these factors in your choice, and you will end up with a recreational vehicle that suits all your needs.

Remember that you might have to make one or two compromises; trade off some features for others since every design or model will have its drawbacks.
