Have You Met Burrufu???

My Monster Burrufu by Alberto Corral is a cute story of a little girl named Olivia who teaches the adults in her life a thing or two about accepting people for who they are. Olivia finds a monster named Burrufu in her attic and makes friends with him. It is only when the adults start butting in do problems start to arise.
The illustrations in the book are just adorable. Both Burrufu and Olivia have the same hairstyle which reminds me a lot like Allie’s hair when we put two hair bows in it.
This book spurred a great discussion while waiting at the Doctor’s office between Gracie and me. She wanted to know why all the adults were scared of Burrufu. I told her that sometimes there are so many bad things happening in the world that adults have learned to fear the unknown. A certain amount of fear is fine, but sometime it controls people to the point that they are suspicious of everything. In that respect, adults can learn a thing or two from children. Sometimes it is good to be like a child to experience new things.
I don’t usually do this with book reviews but with this one I am making the exception. This review is going to have 2 parts to it. One will be my review and the other one is going to be Gracie’s take on the story as well. As for me this book is an awesome read for parents and children alike. I highly recommend this to everyone who is looking for a fun read or a great conversation starter with your child.
