To remove a stain, blot the spot, working from the outside in. Rinse the area and blot again. Do not scrub the carpet, as this may ruin the fibers or cause the spill to soak into the carpet pad.
Alcoholic drinks: Immediately dilute the area with clear cold water. Blot the area to absorb the extra fluids. Combine one teaspoon of mild soap detergent with one teaspoon of distilled white vinegar in approximately one quart of clear, warm water. Put the mixture on the soiled area and allow to completely dry. Vacuum the area with care and you should have removed your carpet stain.
Blood stains: The short lesson on bloodstain removal is to act fast! Blot up the blood and remove all that is possible. Combine a mixture of one teaspoon of a mild soap detergent, 1 teaspoon of a good quality white vinegar and one quart of clean, clear warm water. Place the mixture on the stain and allow it to dry completely before spraying dry cleaning fluid on the area. Let the area dry completely before vacuuming.
Chewing gum: Freeze the gum with ice and then peel off of the carpet.
Candle wax: Freeze the wax with an ice cube and peel off the carpet.
Coffee: Soak up any access coffee immediately. Combine a mixture of one teaspoon of a mild soap detergent, 1 teaspoon of a good quality white vinegar and one quart of clean, clear warm water. Place the mixture on the stain and allow it to dry completely. Treat the area with dry cleaning fluid, and vacuum.
Crayon: Use a knife to remove as much of the crayon as possible. Place a blotter over the crayon area. Run a hot iron over the area allowing the blotter to absorb the melted crayon. Treat the area with dry cleaning fluid. After drying completely, vacuum the area.
Nail polish: Blot the area with a rag dipped in nail polish remover.
Glue: Moisten a cotton ball or soft cloth with rubbing alcohol, pressing it on the affected area. When the area is moistened thoroughly, gently wipe it off. Repeat until the carpet is clean.
