Everyone’s stress is at an all-time high right now. This pandemic has created so much uncertainty. Let me tell y’ all—I’ve done everything I can to get rid of my anxiety. I run every morning, I tried to meditate, and I’m always reaching out to my girlfriends. Yet, I started to feel better when I followed these weird ways to reduce stress. Who knew that unusual methods would help me feel better?

Dance

A few weeks ago, I had a particularly rough morning. The news cycle was especially disheartening, and my kids were acting extra rambunctious. Then, a lightbulb went off and I decided to put on some tunes. I just let them rhythm flow through me, y’all. I can’t tell you how much better it made me feel. I grabbed my kids and danced around the living room. After about thirty minutes, we had all gotten a good workout and felt way calmer.

Clean

Messes make me anxious, y’all. My kids know to pick up their toys the minute they’re done playing with them. When I feel super stressed out, I clean my house from top to bottom. All I have to do is look my hubby in the eye and he takes the kids outside for a few hours. He knows this is my “me time.” I scrub the kitchen counters and wash the baseboards. I also do tons of laundry during my deep-cleans. I like to organize my bedroom too so that I can have a clear mind as I drift off to sleep.

Smash Things

We’ve all fantasized about smashing things when we’re stressed out. About a month ago, I realized that nothing was stopping me from doing so. One night, after my children went to bed, I took some old plates out of the china cabinet. Then, my husband and I went to the backyard and started smashing. It was incredibly cathartic. I felt so much better once the process was said and done. Make sure to take the appropriate safety measures before doing this, y’all. Put on some gloves and goggles before you get smashing.

You can achieve peace of mind with these weird ways to reduce stress. Remember, it’s perfectly okay to not be okay right now. Throw traditional stress-relieving methods out the window. There’s no correct way to live through a pandemic. So, smash, clean, and dance as much as you need.
