Experiencing Game On Escapes

I was invited to attend this special media preview of Game On Escapes & More.

The journey that I have been on this year has been all about creating and experiencing new things. So when I was asked to attend a media night at Game On Escapes & More, I jumped at the chance. I had never done anything like this before- sure I love to read mysteries but to actually put myself in the scenario was a little overwhelming for sure. But it was also very exciting.

But not only did this give me an opportunity to experience something new it also gave me an opportunity to those brain cells working. And not only that it also gave me an opportunity to catch up with my dear friend Kathi.

Since the event was at night, I waited all day with bated breath for the time to approach to escape. We arrived early and found Game On rather quickly. Once inside we were greeted by the owners of Game On, Saed and Ish. Before we started, they told us about the history of the company. Even though they are located in Cary, they started in Morehead City, because they saw the need there. I mean, after all, it is a beach town and gets a lot of visitors. So to me, that was genius thinking on their part.

After hearing about their company, we were split up into three groups. Each group doing a different room. My group did the Jungle Room. And I am proud to say that with a lot of teamwork, our group was the first one out and we got out with 6 minutes to spare. I love that we were able to interact with the game masters as we were playing. They gave us friendly nudges also known as clues as were playing the games. All this was through an iPad. The room wasn’t easy by all means, and honestly, I don’t think we would have made it out of there if we didn’t have a teenager with us helping to solve the clues.

So my advice to you is to bring a teenager with you when you go, especially if you want to get out with time to spare. Even though I was a little apprehensive about doing an escape room, I could so see myself going back to do another one for sure. This would be a fun thing to do with family, friends, or if I had thought about we could have done it for Maddie’s bachelorette party instead. It is also great for coworkers to do- builds a great sense of being a team.

After we solved our room, the owners came in and told us how they designed the rooms, and how much work goes into getting a new room operational. Can you believe that it takes about 8-9 months to get a room operational? I was impressed with the details of each room and how lifelike it was. But most importantly I was totally impressed with the staff and the owners of Game On. They were just as excited about the game as we were to play it. So if you are ever in Cary go visit Game On Escapes in the MacGregor Village Shopping Center I promise a good time will be had by all.

Another plus about Game On Escapes is that they are located within walking distance to several restaurants. So after you play, you can game a bite to eat with your team. I know that is what Kathi and I did before we headed back home to Goldsboro.

Until the next great adventure!
