College Student Gift Ideas

What does one give their child who turned 22 for a birthday present? That question ran through my head last September. I thought of a lot of things but quickly dismissed them because Maddie didn’t need a lot of junk. Then it came to me- something for school. Even though she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, she is still going to college. She is doing a year post bach before going to graduate school. 

I remembered that she had not gotten a new backpack for years. I mean before she even left for college. So I went the backpack route. And I didn’t choose just any backpack. Sure I could have just run to my local big box store and get her one. I wanted one that was unique like she is. That is where Sydney Paige comes into the picture. Never heard of it before- well let me tell you about them. For every Sydney Paige backpack sold an equal backpack full of school supplies is given to a child in need. How cool is that? 

Here is a little bit about Maddie, I have never shared. Whenever she had days off from school and work – she would volunteer at several elementary schools helping children. She has such a love for kids. I mean one summer she helped out during summer school. Think about that most teens want to hang out and party with their friends and be at the beach but not my girl! She was spending times shaping our youth. 

And the backpack I think is funny because I had no idea she needed a new backpack. When I gave it to her, her sister Mikaela said good she needed a new one because hers fell apart. Who knew that this mom would get something right?

So now if you ask me the question, what are some college student gift ideas? I would just say something that gives back and that the Sydney Paige Backpack was the right choice for her.
