Chalkboards Aren’t Just For School

Recently I had the opportunity to review an amazing product from Appliance Art called Chalkboard Vinyl. Basically the idea behind this product is to put a chalkboard on the refrigerator. If you watch Disney Channel , you may be familiar with a show called Good Luck Charlie. I as well as my girls love that show. The Duncan’s refrigerator is done in chalkboard vinyl.

I love the idea behind this. You can write the schedule of the each child on this or even reminders for you to do something. If you are anything like me it seems that the older I get the more forgetful I become so this is an amazing reminder for me as well.

My take on this is that was easy to install and helped with the daily activities to know where everyone was supposed to be when they were suppose to be there. But you know me I am always looking for ways to use products for other than their intended use. While watching the DIY channel, I saw this brief commercial about using this product for a wine tasting that is right up my alley. Basically the simple idea behind it is to use the vinyl as a table runner and place your wines and food on it. Pairing each wine with the food using the chalk to draw lines to pair them together.

 How is that for an interesting display? This will sure to get your friends talking as well. I love the wine corks in the wine glasses as well. But I also went a little further and found another amazing way to use this vinyl. Instead of putting those little wine charms on your wine glasses why not cut the vinyl to place on the outside of the glass and as your friends come in write their name on the glasses in chalk. There will sure be no confusion of whose wine glass it is. Here I cut a simple square and placed on the wine glasses.

You could either write initials or the whole name. They also sell pieces in shapes as well. So you can get a little fancy with it. All and all I loved this product there are so many things that you can do with this product just let your imagination run wild.
