Book Review: Save Your Marriage in Five Minutes a Day

I was given the opportunity to review the book, Save Your Marriage in Five Minutes a Day by Bonnie Jacobson PhD. In this book Jacobson shows some of the common mistakes that people make in their marriage. She devises strategies that if you implement them, they will allow your marriage to grow and be stronger. Let me first start by stating that this is a book a book I think that every married person, whether they have been married 2 minutes or 50 + years should read. The biggest impression that this book made on me was that we can not change how others react to us but we can change the way we react to others. If we work only on one aspect that bugs us and just do it for five minutes a day. Soon it will become a habit.
One example that was mentioned in the book was to stop trying to change your spouse. We have to realize that people are not perfect. That when we find ourselves starting to feel this way we need to take a five minute break and remind yourself that your partner is who she or he and that you chose him or her quirks and all.
I would definitely recommend this book to all the married/ engaged couples I know. The strategies that Jacobson suggests are not some expensive drawn out plans but rather simple, direct and easy to adjust to and non time consuming. If you get a chance to read this book I would highly recommend it.
