Adventure Down The Aisle: Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

It’s Wednesday. And do you know what that means? No not hump day, but it is Wedding Wednesday. Each Wednesday from now until my oldest walks down the aisle I will be highlighting some of the companies that are helping us with the big day. Or things that that we are doing to get ready for the big day. Today is a DIY project that my daughter made.

So in the next installment of Adventure Down the Aisle, I am going to share with you a do it yourself proposal for your bridesmaids. Pinterest is such an excellent resource for this and other wedding ideas, but if you are “extra” like we are, you take it to the next level.

When Maddie was asking her friends ( her best friend and her sisters) to be in the wedding, she knew she wanted to do coat hangers. But she wanted to do them herself. So she went and bought a 4-pack of simple wooden hangers and then let her creativity flow.

I did help her with this a little bit by giving her some ideas, but all the work was all hers. First, she printed off the fonts she wanted to use an made a stencil. She did this by going over the words bridesmaid and maid of honor with a black marker. ( Don’t you love Sharpies?)

Then she printed out a picture of her the person she was asking to be in her wedding and she modge podged it to the back of the hanger. She also added some jewel stickers to the front.

The last thing she did was to make some hang tags asking the person the question “ MAria, will you be…. “

The tag was attached to the hangers with baker’s twine, and so when they flipped over the card, they would see the words bridesmaid and maid of honor.

This took Maddie an afternoon to do, but it was all worth it. So tell me did you have a unique way to ask people to be in your wedding?
