A Visit To The North Carolina Aquarium At Fort Fisher

Yesterday I told you How It Pays To Be A Member well today I am going to show you how we spent our day. We drove to Wilmington which has special meaning to us because my sister is buried there. You can learn more about her story here. So we normally go every couple of months to check on the grave and make sure she has flowers. Lucky we went today because she did not have flowers at all. But that is another story. Let me start with last week. Last weekend being New Year Eve’s and Raul had to work I decided that we were all going to Wilmington this weekend. I mean  we have that membership why not get our moneys worth out of it. So we left around 10:30 am to go for the drive down there and to visit. When we got to Wilmington we of course had to stop at Jo Ann’s (I love that store) and I will share you in another post what I got by frugal shopping.
The aquarium is section out in three awesome so in order to share these parts with you I am going to do a three part series on the aquarium. Today will be about the first section and you will see some very unusual things. Day two will have more awesome stuff and day 3 you can really sink your “Jaws” into. So sit back and enjoy your trip to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

Then we were on to the aquarium. Each time we go I am amazed that they have added something new to their exhibits. I love how children can have fun and still learn at the same time.

Here is what greets you as you walk in. That is one thing that has not changed at the aquarium I have pictures of Maddie and Mikaela when they were little with that same alligator.
What impresses me the most about this aquarium is how true to nature it really is?
This is amazing in this day and age.
This alligator was so big I could not get all of it in the picture.

I love it’s nails. I wonder where he/she gets them done.
Then it was on to see this beautiful duck.

Baby Box Turtle anyone?
Here is an adult turtle that is allowed to roam around a little.

Next you see an Albino Alligator. This is a very rare sight to see.  These alligators are extremely rare and practically impossible to find in the wild. They can  survive only in captivity. So how cool was it that we were able to see one on our visit.
Well that ends part one of a three part series about the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.
Check back tomorrow for Part 2 which will involve crabs and touch tanks.
