Maddie, Mikaela, and Gracie,

A Letter to My Daughters on Mother’s Day plus a MyGiftStop Giveaway from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

Where do I begin with this letter? First, I want to say how proud I am to be your mom. Even though we have our own set of unique circumstances, I am so proud of the young ladies you have become. There are so many things I could say about all three of you collectively but since it is a letter to all three of you let me start by addressing you individually.

Maddie

You are the oldest, the one who made me a mom. I am so proud of all that you have accomplished. Getting your undergraduate degree in Psychology while living on your own asking for little or no help from your dad and I is no small feat. I know college can be demanding and not only are you going to go places in this world (literally and figuratively) but you will always hold a special place in my heart. You were our trial and error child- because being a first-time parent – sometimes you make mistakes. In my mind, I am so proud of you, but my heart is breaking a little as I watch you prepare to make the big move across the country to become a Dr. in Environmental Toxicology. From East Coast to West Coast is a big move, but I know that you will do it with grace and endure through it all. And you are the best cat mommy to MyMy and HeHe.

I think this watch from My Gift Stop would be perfect for you, so you will always know what time it is in on the East Coast, so you call your momma sometimes.

Mikaela,

You are the middle child. Even though we butted heads a lot, I think I missed you more when you went off to college than I did Maddie. I am so in awe of your analytical mind; you sure do take after your daddy with this one. I am so proud that you are chasing your dream of becoming an architect and that you embrace the changes that come your way like a rock. You have always been your own person- do what you want and when you want it. But you have also grown since you have been in college- allowing others into your tough outer exterior to see the blanket and animal loving person you are. I do not doubt that we will see your name on building plans someday and I can imagine what you are going to accomplish in your life, even if Maddie is not there at college with you – I know you are going to knock the socks for the rest of years there. Plus, you are a great cat mommy to Markie, even though we have custody of her. If I had to choose one gift for you, it would be a pen.

Why a pen you ask because first, you love to design buildings and second it would be a special pen just to use to sign all the contracts that people will draw up wanting you to create their spaces.

Gracie,

You are the youngest of the girls. I know sometimes you feel left out because your sisters are closer in age, but somehow you and Mikaela are soul sisters. Just like Mikaela, you walk to the beat of your own drum, not wanting to be part of the crowd and at your happiest drawing and listening to music. You are my most artistic child. Whether it is creating a new look with your makeup, being my video editor to my partner in crime now that your sisters are at college, you are your own person. One that loves hard. I can only imagine the amazing things that you will do in the future and can’t wait until you decide what you want to do with your life. Whatever it is I know it will be amazing.

But I know one thing that I would give you to take with you in whatever career you do decide to go into is a small bear to remind you of Beary that you can place on your desk, so you can remember how far you have come and how far you must go.

My girls, you are the most significant accomplishments of my life, and I am so proud that you are who you are.

Love
