A Fierce and Confident Mama

Today is another post in the series about erasing the negative images we see every day. I hope you are enjoying this series as much as I have enjoyed sharing these brave women with you. Just in case you missed any of this series, you can catch up by clicking giving back in the menu.

This series has turned into so much more than I could imagine. But each woman has had a reason for why their pictures are their favorites. And today’s picture is no different. Although I haven’t met Linda from Linda Mendible, in person I feel such a kinship with her.

As, I’ve searched through my pictures and tried to identify my favorite picture I can’t help but to always linger and hover over this one and as I was forced to pick a favorite this one undoubtably is.

It’s when I first became a mompreneur and was invited to one of my first speaking engagements for a local blogging group. I loved everything about this moment and this picture. It is a reminder of who I am and who I was stepping up to become. It’s a picture of me in all my roles.

A daughter of the most high equipped to take on what ever God has for me as a servant of God, wife, mother and as a woman. It was my first year as a first time mom and stepping into what I believed I was called to do. Although that year I went from a size 5 to a 10 in this picture all of it was worth it.

This picture embodies the confidence of a first time mom stepping out with out the help of the hubby. The simple steps of a sashaying mama in a dress size that at one point would of been too much. The hips of a mother who bore the weight of her baby upon them in more ways than one. And that fierce mom cut she rocked so well. Oh yea…though she be a mama she be fierce my friend.

Confidence is not something we feel but something we own. I owned who I was that day in that capture in it’s entirety. With heels even. (Just thought I throw that in there)

I believe beauty is more than our appearance but about the roles we play and how we manage them. Striving to manage each delicate and intricate part of who we are with love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23
