A Cookbook and More !!!

breadandwinebookBread and Wine by Shauna Niequist is a very unique book. Never has a cookbook brought me to tears, but this one did. This is not a cookbook in the normal sense of the word. No this book is a wonderful story of the author’s life intermixed with recipes that helped her along the way. It about friendship, wich as the author says, God’s greatest evidence of Himself here on Earth. I wrote so many noted within the margin of this book. Notes about things I wanted to try and awesome ways to redirect my way of thinking,

When the words bread & wine are spoken together it conjures up the imagery of taking communion. Niequist says that every time that bread and wine are presented together at our table and not just at communion, we need to remember to offer faith at the same time.

When was the last time you gathered around the table with a group of friends when what you served did not matter and you were just in the here and now.  I bet you can not remember. So I challenge you to put together a little dinner party for some of your friends within the next few months and do these little things. First do not stress about how your house looks. Next do not stress over what you will feed your friends. It does not need to be fancy – you could serve hot dogs and mac and cheese for that matter. Just be there to celebrate your friendships and your family with those you hold near and dear.

So if you looking for an uplifting Christian based cookbook than Bread & Wine is the book for you. I give it a 10 out 10 stars.

Here is a little more info about the author. Shauna Niequist lives in Chicago with her husband and two sons. She writes about family, friendship, faith and life around the table. You can check out more information about her by visiting her website.
