5 Awesome Ways to Present a Surprise Gift

5 Awesome Ways to Present a Surprise Gift from NC Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

Picking out the perfect gift is just the first part of the journey. Once that’s done, you also need to deliver the present in the perfect fashion too. Sometimes, the delivery can matter just as much as the item itself, from the way you wrap your awesome present, to the way you hand it over on the big day.

If you’re gifting a surprise, then you need to make it as much of a big deal as possible, without letting your gift recipient know too much about what they’re going to get. With that in mind, we’ve put together some quick tips on how you can deliver a surprise gift in the most impressive way.

  1. The Hunt

Why simply give someone a gift when you can have them track it down with clues and a map from yours truly? The scavenger hunt gift style is one of the most popular ways to present a surprise gift, but it will require a little bit of work. You’ll need to think about how you’re going to take your friend or loved one on a journey as they look for their gift, without risking them losing track of their position, or finding the present before they’re supposed to.

To make the scavenger hunt extra special, try to make the clues relevant to the occasion you’re celebrating, or to the gift itself (without giving anything away). This can be a wonderful way to make the moment more meaningful for both of you.

  1. The Delivery Person

If you and your loved ones usually share gifts on the same occasions each year, then they’re probably expecting a present from you on a certain day. Why not throw a spanner in the works by changing things up a little? Have someone deliver the gift for you well ahead of schedule, or even consider having the gift delivered in the day by someone unexpected, like someone dressed up as your friend’s favorite cartoon character.

If your gift is small and you have an obedient pet, get them to deliver it for you by attaching it to their collar and asking your friend to call for them. You could also have your kid, or another special person approach the recipient with the gift too.

  1. Fake Packaging

If you really want to double down on the surprise element of your gift experience, why not shock someone with packaging that they didn’t quite expect? For instance, you could start off by wrapping a box for a new phone, then when they actually open the box, they could see another smaller wrapped present. When they finally get all the way through the packaging, you could give them a note letting them know where their real present is hidden.

To avoid an uncomfortable experience, the first gifts that your friend should unwrap should probably be things that they don’t want to receive. For instance, you could wrap the box for a toaster, but inside could be the concert tickets that your loved one has been dying to get their hands on.

  1. Make the Unwrapping Experience Special

If you don’t think any of the above delivery options are right for you, then why not simply make the unwrapping part of the gift giving experience a little more exciting. Maybe you could wrap the present in a unique way, by covering it with tape or using fabric instead of paper, so your friend has to carefully unknot a layer at a time.

When choosing your wrapping strategy, consider what’s going to make your loved one laugh or smile. Will making it practically impossible to access the gift be more fun for them than opening a package that’s filled with glitter and colored tissue paper? This is your chance to show your loved one how well you know them, and how much you value your friendship.

  1. Unexpected Discovery

Finally, who says you have to actually give the gift at all? Instead of handing the present over, leave it wrapped in a place that you know your loved one is going to stumble onto it. You could put the item on their bed, so they see it when they go to sleep at night, or put it in the bathroom for when they wake up first thing in the morning.

If you don’t live with the person, place the gift in their office, or have a loved one leave it for them on the coffee table so they discover it when they arrive soon. This will add to the surprise.
