Before we were office people, our great, great, great ancestors used to be hunters and gatherers. I bet the scarcity of food would not permit them to gain some excess weight! However, today, the ease of access, availability, and a huge selection of food makes it difficult to resist! This often results in a few pounds on your tummy!

I know how difficult it is to resist sumptuous meals especially when you are in good company! Sometimes, exercising cannot keep up with our indulgence! You just can’t give up tasty food, eh? That, probably, is the reason you are looking for healthy recipes that could help you lose weight while enjoying your food!

Some food can spike your metabolism and increase calorie burn. Of course, it will not trump exercise, but if you couple it with this food, you are in for some major calorie banging journey! Here are some awesome recipes you can try that will spare you the guilt of gaining weight and still have a gastronomic experience! Some recipes can even stimulate weight loss!

  1. Green Tea and Chia Pudding

This recipe will make a delicious dessert (snack or breakfast too!), that will surely fill your stomach and satisfy your sweet craving. The green tea will spike your metabolism and give you a boost while chia will keep your stomach lasting fullness!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk (you can substitute this with other dairy or non-dairy milk)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup berries (your choice!)

Directions:

  • Blend all the liquid ingredients and matcha.
  • Mix the chia seeds and let the chia seed bloom for at least an hour in the fridge.
  • Setting this overnight will give you the best pudding!

 

  1. Cheesy Jalapeno Wrap

Spicy food has been proven to have a thermogenic effect on the body which simply means that it raises your body temperature. A higher body temperature means that you are burning more calories. This simple and easy to prepare cheesy jalapeno wrap will satisfy your dairy craving and spike your metabolism and improve your gut health too.

Ingredients

  • 1 10-inch whole grain pita bread or sandwich wrap (whole grain has a higher glycemic index)
  • 1 egg
  • Few strips of bell pepper
  • 1 tsp minced onion
  • Few pieces of pickled jalapeno (add as much as you want)
  • 1 tbsp pre-made tomato salsa
  • 1 tbsp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp mozzarella

Directions:

  • Heat the wrap for a few seconds in the microwave with the highest settings. Fifteen to twenty seconds will do.
  • Cook the egg the way you want it! Scrambled egg is the easiest and fastest way if you are on the go. Don’t forget to add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Place the egg on your wrap and add all the remaining ingredients on top of the egg.
  • Fold the wrap and heat on over the skillet for about 10 seconds on each side. Serve hot and enjoy!
  • Don’t underestimate the energy that egg and cheese can give you! And by the way, this recipe will take less than 10 minutes to prepare!

 

  1. Mushroom Sandwich

This mushroom sandwich recipe is another great way to enjoy lunch without feeling guilty. This healthy recipe brings strong earthy flavors that will make your mouth water! Also, this recipe is rich in antioxidant that helps aid metabolism and prevents free-radical damage.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large mushroom (Portobello mushroom is a great choice!)
  • Drizzle of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp minced onion
  • 1 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (you can skip this or replace with avocado)
  • 1 tbsp pickle relish
  • 6” halved baguette
  • 1 slice ham

Directions:

  • Sauté onion and mushroom over medium heat for about 5-8 minutes until the mushroom is fully cooked. Add a few spoons of water as needed if your mushroom needs rehydration.
  • Spread the yogurt and mayo on one side of the sandwich.
  • Add the pickle relish, then the mushroom.
  • Now, place the ham on top and top with the other half of the baguette.
  • Enjoy this earthy delight without worrying about gaining weight!
