21 and Feeling Accomplished

Today is another post in the series about erasing the negative images we see every day. I hope you are enjoying this series as much as I have enjoyed sharing these brave women with you. Just in case you missed any of this series, you can catch up by clicking giving back in the menu.

Today I have my amazing and incredibly talented middle daughter, Mikaela sharing her favorite photo. It is only fitting that she gets a post today as she officially becomes a “Real” Adult today. She is no longer my baby girl but instead today she is 21 years old. She has grown so much in the last year and even started kata vlogs, which is her own YouTube Channel. You can check it out here.

This is my favorite picture because it shows I at least accomplished something. I make mistakes every day, I’m not as smart as other people, I’m nobody’s first choice, nor the prettiest and design school kicks my ass. However, no matter how I feel in this moment or moments from now I vowed that I’d never be the enemy to myself ever again. This is the picture I took celebrating a year of being self-harm free. A year isn’t a long time but it’s an accomplishment. This is my favorite picture because I’m happy. In that moment I was truly happy despite hour before I pinned up my first ever design and I hadn’t slept all week but I was truly happy that I made it through it all without doing things past Mikaela would’ve done. This is my favorite picture.

For this post I am adding something different. It is no accident that I discovered this song this week as when another one of my girls reach the age of 21. So for all you mama’s out there I hope you love this song as much as I do.
