Ways To Stay Motivated When Working From Home

Y’all, can we just talk about how crazy this past year was? I’m so glad people are getting vaccinated, and life’s returning to normal. Yet, I wonder if some things like washing our hands constantly and working from home will ever change. I’m not complaining! I’d much rather be at home than in the office, but sometimes, it’s hard to stay on track. Luckily, I’ve found some ways to stay motivated while working from home that I want to share with you.

Redo Your Office

I’m a firm believer that you’ll only be as productive as your environment allows you to be. If your workspace is rather drab, make some simple décor updates for your home office. Hang interesting wallpaper on the wall to give you something stimulating to look at throughout the day. Also, remember that it’s all about the furniture! If the furniture is stuffy, you’ll never feel comfortable enough to get any work done.

Get Up and Move

The best part of working from home is that you can set your own rules, y’all. So, get up and move when you have the time. There’s nothing worse than sitting hunched over a laptop all day. Break this cycle and get up for a dance break when you need it. As long as your camera isn’t on, there will be no one around to judge your moves.

Reward Yourself

Another way to stay motivated when working from home is to reward yourself. This past year has been brutal on everyone. We all deserve a special little salute for getting through it. For example, I reward myself with a piece of chocolate if I meet all my deadlines. You can choose a reward that works well for you.

It’s hard to tell if the remote work culture will ever change. Lots of companies are starting to offer a hybrid option. If you’ve proven that you can be successful at home, stay with it. However, keep these tips in mind so that you’re ready to resist the next time a Friends marathon catches your eye when you should be working.
