Trendsetters: Five Celebrities With Great Fashion Taste

When it comes to fashion choices, big or small, we all pay close attention to what we are exposed to both on the main street, in the stores we shop, and by the magazines, we read and the products pushed within them.

However an additional opinion we tend to be swayed by, comes from celebrities that we admire and the statements they make when they are on the red carpet or even snapped by the paparazzi outside their homes.

There are some that have become fashion magnets for us mere mortals, individuals whose fashion picks are instantly copied the world over. 

These are talented women in their own right, not a Kardashian in sight, and as well as having a talent as a singer/ songwriter or actress they know their way along a catwalk or two.

Blake Lively

There are some celebrities who look like they are trying too hard to make an impact or are attempting, unsubtly, to flaunt their own collections or publicize and promote certain brands and as such it’s hard to know how much of what they are wearing is simply for show.

American actress Blake Lively, who first made a real acting splash when she started in teen drama Gossip Girl in the mid 2000s, is a celebrity who’s fashion sense is somewhere between classic Americana and modern preppy. 

She oozes class when she’s pictured at any awards show or at a fashion week event and there’s something very natural about the way she holds herself that makes women sit up and take notice.

Zendaya

This multi-talented 24-year-old feels as if she’s been around for a lot longer than she has been, such has been the brightness of her stardom. Similarly to Blake Lively, Zendaya has a natural air to her and is an ideal model for a range of styles and accessories and her mass appeal straddles many demographics.

She’s eye-catching with her fashion choices but nothing is seemingly done off-the-cuff and many looks she’s captured have swiftly been implemented or replicated by mainstream brands keen to benefit from her popularity.

Her confidence is infectious and frankly we are jealous of just how much she has achieved, especially given her age.

Rihanna

Clearly, this singer is one of the best in the business when it comes to her musical output but she’s already made a name for herself with various fashion related avenues she has sashayed down. 

Her fashion brand Fenty has been a runaway success and she’s modeled for many of the big brands and whatever she wears, however she wears it, sparks cooler talk and that’s the kind of publicity you can’t buy. No wonder she’s pursued by all the big players at the fashion table.

She pushes boundaries and dares to use her sexuality, and attitude, to the max.

• Beyonce

Speaking of attitude and sexuality, Beyonce is the siren of her generation and a celebrity trendsetter to millions. The singer and entertainer has seamlessly moved from being a part of a multi-million selling girl band to a political activist and mother of three with a groundbreaking solo career.

Every time Beyonce steps out, people take notice. That goes from the clothes she wears, and she’s incredibly adaptable when it comes to her wardrobe, to the accessories she partners with her outfits too, such as her ongoing affection for name necklace jewelry. 

Very much a fashion chameleon, many are left watching and waiting to see what fashion curve she’ll cruise ahead of next.

Cate Blanchett

This Australian Oscar-winning actress has a great eye when it comes to fashion and is often considered something of a symbol for women of a certain age. Her minimalist approach is always classy and understated and it, in many ways, mirrors her persona and many of the acting roles that have brought her stardom.

Much like her acting range, her style choices have been adaptable and multi-faceted and that’s why she’s known for wearing outfits, and accessories, that appear out of leftfield. 

Her red carpet looks are legendary, from her ‘naked’ dress at the 2014 Oscars to her Donna Karen maternity ensemble at 2004’s Golden Globes, proving that as well as on the big screen, Blanchett can ‘do it all’.

Looking to celebrities for affirmation when it comes to fashion choices is perhaps unsurprising given how much ‘time’ we spend with these stars living in our consciousness. 

Therefore using their style compass as a guide through the murky world of fashion, where potential mistakes are only one step off the beaten path, is often a safe path to tread. This particular list of celebrity fashionistas represents a subtle collection of those A-Listers who have an eye for fashion that is more than just perfunctory.
