Tips for Sane Shopping This Holiday Season

AFM Sane Shopping

Soon the hustle and bustle of the holiday season will be upon us. How many of you have started your shopping for the holiday season? I have started but I am nowhere near finished and probably won’t be for a while. I always like to get my shopping done early because if there is one thing I cannot stand is the holiday shopping crowds. I think this time of years brings out the crazy and rudeness in everyone. Here are a few tips that will keep you sane this holiday season.

  • Find that “one-stop shop” for whole family. I love going to stores that I can buy a present for everyone on my list without going anywhere else. I know that this shop maybe be a dream because in reality we all have different taste, but try to find a store that you can get several presents from, it will make your life a lot easier.
  • Start shopping early. I do this most of the time I start shopping in summer for Christmas but this year we have had an extremely busy summer so I have not had the time to shop. But here is a word of caution about shopping early, make sure you know the store’s exchange policy just in case you change your mind. You don’t want to be out a gift or money do you?
  • Give with your heart. Remember it is not about the price. That is one thing that I never consider when I shop, no price can be small or large when it comes to the ones you love. If the right present is a $5.00 or less than get it.
  • Look for sales. Pay attention to the advertisements in newspapers, magazines and online. You can end up saving some of your hard earned money.
  • Pick a shopping center that has everything. Let’s face it crowds are crazy but so is traffic and this will save you money on gas as well.
  • Always have an extra gift on hand for the unexpected guest. It can be anything just have something so the guest will not feel left out.
  • Create a budget and stick to it. Too many times that is when we get ourselves into trouble because we overspend.
  • Consider online discount shopping. This is by far the most convenient and that is how I do most of my shopping. There is no traffic and you can shop in your pajamas while watching your favorite show on television.
  • Remember the reason behind the season and make sure that you do not get too caught up in how commercial the holiday season has become.

I hope these tips will help you to have a sane and wonderful holiday season. Happy shopping and make sure you remember to buy me a gift. LOL I would love to hear how you keep sane this holiday season.
