Tips for Making Food in a Slow Cooker

Sometimes I just don’t have time to get creative in the kitchen. Whenever I have a lot on my plate, I use my slow cooker to make dinner. I’m telling y’all, it’s a game changer. Simply throw a few ingredients in the low cooker and it’s good to go. If y’all are as busy as I am, check out these tips for making food in a slow cooker.

Anything is Possible

When I tell y’all that anything is possible with a slow cooker, I’m not lying. There is an abundance of recipes and meals that turn out beautifully when cooked in a slow cooker. Slow cookers are easy to use because y’all can literally put the ingredients in, turn it on, and walk away. While the food is cooking, y’all can do work, laundry, play with the kids, or do whatever y’all have to do. Whether it’s chili, chicken, or soup, anything is possible in a slow cooker.

Keep the Lid Closed

When you make food on the stove, it’s important to give the food a stir every few minutes. Don’t do this with a slow cooker. It can be difficult to resist the urge but try to keep the lid closed while the food is cooking. When the lid comes off the slow cooker loses heat. If y’all don’t want to add time to the clock, keep that lid on!

Don’t Forget Seasoning

One of the best tips for making food in a slow cooker is to add seasoning. Before y’all cook the dish, consider the extensive list of spices and herbs. It’s important to add seasoning to the dish to make sure it’s packed with flavor. Before y’all put the meat and veggies into the slow cooker, toss them with olive oil and seasoning. Y’all can also add the seasoning right into the slow cooker with all the ingredients. There isn’t a wrong way to do it.

Avoid Overfilling

The last tip I have for y’all is to avoid overfilling. Don’t overfill the slow cooker because it can cause everything to cook unevenly. The last thing y’all want is to waste time and energy making this meal only for it to come up sub-par. If y’all want a delicious and easy meal, just fill the slow cooker ¾ of the way.
