There are times of the year when certain items are less expensive. Shop off season, and save yourself a bundle.

  • February: housewares and small appliances; furniture; jewelry; chocolates
  • March: outwear; gardening supplies; luggage
  • April: wallpaper and paint; china; men’s and boys’ suits
  • May: major appliances; preseason sales on swimsuits and sandals
  • June: home furnishings; automobile tires; home-improvement tools and materials
  • July: major appliances; air conditioners; summer clothing; barbecue grills and supplies; radios and stereo equipment
  • August: bedding; outdoor furniture; school supplies; winter coats; back-to-school clothes
  • September: homes; bicycles; gardening supplies
  • October: cars; outdoor sports equipment; men’s and boys’ clothes
  • November: blankets and comforters; holiday meal fixings; fall clothing sales and winter markdowns
  • December: jewelry; ties; sweaters; perfume; popular gift items; food serving pieces; nursery and baby supplies
