Remember I have read several books about when we are reverted back to the days before electricity and I said that would post tips from time to time about ways to use less and save more. Well here is the first tip. Potatoes are cheap. They can be stored for a long time, and can be used in a variety of dishes. Other staples to keep on hand are rice, beans, cooking oil, and flour. Because you can always use these over fire if you need to.

I also have 10 gallons of bottled water for just in case. They have worked on the sewer system before and the water came in handy until it was fixed.
