AFM Summer Kids

Hard to believe Summer is almost over my girls have open house next Thursday and then start school the following week. My how time flies when you are having fun. Don’t worry I am still going to continue with the book reviews so looking for another catchy name for it. Today, I am reviewing another book by that amazing kid’s author Ally Nathaniel. I have previously reviewed other books written by her, Who’s Under the Bed?, Sparkly Me, and Fabulous Me.  Just like in the other books, Nathaniel teaches children a lesson through a story. Here is a brief description of her book.

pencil 2

When Sarah finds something growing up from the ground, that looks like a pencil, she gets very curious and excited. Is it really just an ordinary pencil? Find out what happens when she begins to draw. The adventures are about to begin.

I love how in this story that Sarah finds that the more she does good for others the more she is rewarded. For instance when she used the pencil she finds to draw something for someone else, she is rewarded with more pencils.  Her good deeds are multiplied. Isn’t that a lesson that we want all our children to learn. Not to be selfish but to do things for others. I have always taught my children to be like that. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.

As a teacher, I can see working a lesson around this cute story. I also could show children that even sharing your own pencil with a friend can be a rewarding experience.

This is also a frugal read for your children. Right now you can get this book on your Kindle at Amazon for $0.99. And you have a prime membership you can get it for free.

Check out Ally Nathaniel’s website as well; she has form there that you can fill out for a free copy of Playful Kitchen.
