Making Choosing a College Easier
It seems like it was just yesterday that we were bringing Maddie home from the hospital and now we are facing her going off to college. She has been very lucky to be able to attend a high school that allowed her to take college classes in her freshman year in high school. She is now more than half way to a two-year college degree. She was also given the option to attend her high school for a fifth year. Why is that beneficial? Her grades are awesome but what I really love is the amount of money that we are saving only having to pay for her activity fees instead of all that tuition money.
But knowing that this not an option for some people makes me sad. When and where do you decide which college is right for child to attend. First talk to parents and students who attend colleges that your child is interested in. Luckily the main college that Maddie is interested in is my alma mater. Plus the added bonus of the fact that she is within an hour drive to family and close friends live by makes me feel better about that decision. Some parents do not have that piece of mind. But there is an answer to this problem. Collegereviews.com is a website with reviews written by students on behalf of the colleges they attend. We were able to check this website out to see what colleges in our state offered for Maddie.
It was a great resource we were able to find out some very useful information that helped to ease on our minds on her second and third choices of schools to attend. This was also a great way to get feedback on the majors that she was into looking. Soon we will be faced with the day that we will be sending off into the world but at least we will be doing it with a little more knowledge that what we had before we researched the college.
