How to Save the Ocean

How to Save the Ocean from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

The earth is roughly 5 billion years old. Despite having a long, rich history, human beings have only been around for a small fraction of earth’s total existence. Unlike other species, however, humans have had a massive impact on the natural order of the planet. From genetically modifying plants and animals to curing entire populations of diseases, humans have accomplished some very impressive feats. Our unmatched ability for critical thinking and cognitive reasoning don’t always lead to positive ends. Even things that we may consider as advances can end up having a host of unintended consequences. The most notable of those consequences to date is global warming and pollution. The earth’s temperature is rising at a rate that has been greatly accelerated by the release of carbon emissions and greenhouse gases. There are also countless pieces of trash that aren’t finding a proper place. These are all a result of the daily habits and consumption of humans such as driving, food, and more.

The Ocean’s Future Health

Earth’s oceans have taken a significant hit as a result of pollution. The negative effects of global warming and littering have taken a great toll on the overall health of all oceans. Sea levels continue to rise throughout the world as polar ice caps melt at a faster pace with each passing year. Marine life is being threatened in myriad ways through unsustainable fishing practices and litter. Many countries such as Japan and China have overfished their waters as to suffer from a lack of available food. In fact, several fish and marine species have been hunted out of existence. Perhaps the most apparent effect on the oceans’ health is trash. The oceans are full of plastic and other forms of trash that humans place there for lack of space or care.

Why Helping the Ocean is a Top Priority

Despite the damage that has already been done, it is not too late to start helping the oceans recover. Helping the oceans should be a top priority for several important reasons. First and foremost, the rising ocean levels have a direct impact on the livelihood of humans living near the coasts. Some islands have become unlivable due to these conditions. Secondly, the rising temperatures have been correlated to the countless hurricanes that have devastated countries around the world as of late. Another great reason to start helping the oceans is to preserve their beauty. Oceans cover almost two-thirds of Earth’s surface and have thousands of unique species of plants and animals. We have a duty to preserve these oceans for so future generations can enjoy their beauty.

Conclusion

Despite their grand size and seemingly unconquerable nature, Earth’s oceans are in jeopardy. The rising levels of pollution by energy conditions and trash have had several negative effects on the health of the oceans. Fortunately, there is still time to help and many people are investing to save the oceans. Basque in the beauty of oceans to help increase our sense of appreciation.
