How to Install Frameless Shower Doors in a Tiled Bathroom

Have a beautiful house with charismatic interiors, a lovely closet, the choice of painting and antiques, all of this defines luxury. Have a frameless enclosure that can add to the aesthetic appeal of the bathroom as having a glass and less of hardware gives your bathroom a spacious and decent look. Modern bathrooms look great and give us a feeling like a spa. Therefore, contemporary bath fixtures and seamless transitions are making your bathroom look heavenly. The best part about having a glass door in a bathroom is that they offer a sense of openness and even a small place doesn’t anymore feel small. It is affordable as well. It involves less of the fittings and the fixtures and looks comparatively tidier.

There are standard sizes available and the best part is that the frameless shower doors separate the dry and the wet areas and helps in optimizing the bath spaces. There are two panels, one is panel A which is a fixed panel that doesn’t have to move. Panel B is a rotating panel which is also called the hinged panel. Follow the following instructions so as to install the shower doors correctly:

Make Sure That There Are Paddings

This is to make sure that while fitting the door, you put the glass door on a soft surface so that the chance of the breaking of the door gets reduced. Glass doors are mild and should be taken care of with utmost precision. Wood shingles can also work when there is no padding.

The Door Fitting

Accurate measurements play a vital role when it comes to purchasing doors and fittings. Making sure that the door you have is accurate and can fit the opening of the shower area. If the seals are being used, they have a width and hence the measurements may change. However, if there are no seals, there will be an opening of approximately .25 inches thicker than the door.

Drill Holes

Make sure that the holes are drilled by putting a clip in. After the holes are drilled, clean the extra dust that came out. Now that the holes are perfectly drilled, prefab the clips and make sure that they are mounted. Make sure that the holes match with the hardware you have bought so that the tightening is easy. Overtightening should be avoided as this may damage the glass door.

Prepare for the Installation of doors

Use a screwdriver to attach the hinges and also to attach the door handle to the door. The hinges are attached at the center of the cut out in the glass. The perk of attaching the hinges in the center is that it ensures the maximum movement required for the adjustment. Make sure that the screws are tight.

Wood Shims on the Door

You can always use a shim as thin as .225 inch that can help in elevating the fixtures. These can be found at home improvement stores. There are various widths available and you can choose any depending upon the elevation that you need. Elevating the door also helps in positioning the door correctly. However, ensuring that the door is at the level and no modifications are needed is important.

Proper Alignment of the Door

Make sure that after you placed the wood shims on the floor, place panel B at the place of the installation. Panel B is swinging and hence is generally shorter than Panel A. Now you need to align Panel B as per Panel A making sure that the minimum gap of 1/16th inches between the two panels is there as no gap may let the glass doors break.

Hinge Holes

Then the next step is to make the hinge holes with a marker and then remove the panel. Drill at the places where the holes are marked and insert anchors. Remove the heads of the anchors and razor blades can help in this process. Place Panel B on the wood shim and make sure that the holes are lined up along with the properly measured gap. Screw the hinges to the tiled wall. The frameless shower door has found its place and looks classy. Make sure that after the door has been placed correctly, the wood shims are removed.

Placement of the Vinyl Sweep

After the door has been installed, place the Vinyl Sweep at the threshold. Keep on opening and closing the door several times to know whether the movement is smooth. You can always place the double glass stop between the doors so that the movement is easy. Make sure that you start from the bottom and end at the top. Vinyl sweep at the bottom can also help that the water doesn’t go out and only the shower area is wet leaving the other area clean and dry. Make sure that the size you installed doesn’t let the water flow out.

Now that there is a beautiful addition to your bathroom, it feels luxurious and spacious. The appearance of being sleek and stylish is one of the best features. There can also be a shower curtain around if you like the idea. Even if the design and looks are kept apart, the other advantage that such doors present is that keeping them clean is easy and important. A weekly spray can help get rid of all the scars you see made of soaps. This is the best choice for the bathrooms that are not properly ventilated. Make sure that the door is being cleaned daily and there are no cracks on the door. It is to be taken care of with the utmost precision.
